Dark Fiber Route: Toronto to Buffalo
This nearly completed long-haul route measures 86 miles in length, spanning from Toronto, Ontario to Buffalo, New York. The route originates in downtown Toronto’s financial district where it transitions to submarine cable at Woodbine Beach. The route transitions to terrestrial underground cable on the U.S. side of Lake Ontario between Olcott and Wilson, traversing southwest through Amherst. The new route terminates in downtown Buffalo, the second most populous city in New York.
The route is physically diverse from all other existing routes and designed for low-latency and superior long-term performance. Construction is estimated to be completed in the fall of 2018.
